THAT 70'S SHOW

Remember the TV show, "The Courtship of Eddie's Father"? That adorable child with a single dad, and the wonderful Japanese housekeeper, whose name I can't recall. In one episode she relates to Eddie a haiku....one that has stuck in my brain from that moment on.

"From time to time while
gazing at the moon
clouds will come to give us rest."

I like it. I like thinking on it. I think it holds an important message for us all.

Well, today while I was out soaking up some rays, that haiku popped into my head. And I immediately made my own version:

"From time to time while
soaking up some rays
breezes come to cool me off."

It was cooler today, what with the winds and a cloud or two. But I'm still working on getting some Vitamin D. I hear that in our area, it will be the liquid variety by the weekend. :-(

Unfortunately I am not familiar with teh show you mentioned, I don't think we got that one in Australia, but I loved the haiku, such truth in those words.

It is a haiku writing site, I have contributed a couple of times to it under the name "burnt offerings". I didn't do this weeks - too crazy to even think around here right now.

You are just too good!! I, also, got some rays yesterday; maybe a little more than 15 minutes. Did you get any sunburn? I got a red, bumpy, rash-like sunburn :( Nothing serious, it will be gone by tomorrow. Not much sun so far today. It's supposed to be cooler and cloudy. No rain in the forecast I don't think. We're going up to the Mariner's game on Sunday. It will be in the 70's, which is really good for watching a game at Safeco. Have a nice weekend and don't fall off your chair ;)

The Courtship of Eddie's Father...I can even remember the theme song..."People let me tell you 'bout my best friend, he's my one joy, cuddly toy, my up, my down and pride and joy...People let me tell you 'bout him he's so much fun, whether we're talking man to man, whether we're talking son to son...now he's my best friend, budup, ba da,ba da, ba da..." How's that for a memory?!?

I know, I know. It was Mrs. Livingston.
Sorry, but the song goes,
"People let me tell you 'bout my best friend. He's a warm hearted person who'll love me till the end.People let me tell you 'bout my best friend. He's a one boy cuddly toy, my up, my down, my pride and joy."

I also got the red, bumpy, rash like sunburn too. We were together, think that might have something to do with it? NO!!
I really find it funny that you act upset about the weather not being as nice this weekend. Man, is that a big turnaround. There's hope for you yet.

Oh my, what a talented group we are! I think both of you are probably right about the song...just different verses. There is no way I would have remembered that...but I can hear it in my head now.
Nope, no rashy sunburns. I did get a little pink, but that's gone. My arms might be getting some color, but my legs are white as ever.
And just because I whine about the RAIN doesn't mean I want it to be HOT! I will never like it. (Tho I realize that old people tend to like it warmer than most!)

Wow. Where do I go to get a that kind of a memory?

I was rather impressed with myself just remembering that I had seen that show a time or two.

I tell you, Elizabeth, my sisters are good. They can remember the durndest things! Sometimes I'm lucky to remember where I live....

I have a sister who thinks she has a great memory but the rest of us figure she gets it wrong and ignore her.

Nothing is more fun than sisters sitting in a room talking about their childhood. Someone always seems to go home in a huff.

*much laughter*
